The beach and the red bucket

It was finally a glorious day outside and we didn't have anything soccer related to attend to. So we did my favorite thing, get onigiri's and go to the beach. Reina got to wear her new dress that Obaachan picked out for her and she actually enjoyed herself. She really liked playing in the water - so much so that I had to take off her diaper b/c she kept pouring water all over herself (it was too cold for Chris and I to even thing about going in). After our snack and water play we threw Reina on my back and did some good old-fashioned reef-walking. It felt like last spring break when Liz and Mike were here, except Reina was heavier!

We stopped by our Yomitan house to see if the crane was gone and there had been progress on the house...and there had! The foundation walls were all set for concrete pouring (like I know!), but the rebar was up and it looked like where the structural walls would go and that seems logical....

Later in the day we prepared for a mini-bbq with our old japanese friends Kazuki and Kaori. They had just been on their honeymoon to NYC and we still hadn't heard how it went. Reina thoroughly enjoyed playing on the balconi with her tunnel and a random red bucket we leave outside. She tried several times to sit on it (mouth up) which was hilarious. We weren't really sure what she was doing, b/c she was circling the bucket with it mouth - up and then all of the sudden she slowly squatted with her butt out, like she was trying to sit. Then she did and of course the bucket toppled. She didn't get hurt and we were sad when we couldn't get her to do it for the video camera. She did manage to get her whole-self inside the bucket later (pictured).

The Green Dress

I love this dress (I think Liz gave it to us actually)! I caught Reina playing with Chris' hat before heading off to the bake sale fundraiser for the soccer trip to Seoul this May. On the way home Reina was quiet in the back drinking from her new water bottle. I was surprised that she drank it all - of course when I went to get her out of her carseat, I discovered that rather than drinking it she had actually dumped it all over herself. She was drenched!

This week was tough (despite being off for spring break). Chris ran a sports camp at Lester (soccer for little kids) and this combined with several soccer games and the bake sale resulted in us being quite busy. I spent the week playing

with Reina and catching up with some friends, so it wasn't a total loss. We're excited about fourth quarter (well, we're excited about it being almost summer!) and for May, when my mom is supposed to come visit.

15 Month Stats

Reina had her next check up with Dr. Krason (same doc who has taken care of her her whole life). Dr. Krason said Reina was doing great. She was 21.5lbs and 29.5" long which are both in the twenty-fifth percentile and she was in the 50th for head circumference. She wasn't worried that Reina wasn't talking since she has about 15 signs and is getting English and Japanese. Reina got two more shots and then will go back for her last two at 18months. I was sad to hear that Dr. Krason will be PCSing, so we'll have to find a new ped.

House - We went by and while they hadn't started digging, there was some large machinery waiting to begin. I think the crane is about the same size as our land!

Summer - We have finally made our summer plans. We will fly to Portland around July 1st, and head up north for the next two weeks. Then we will leave from Seattle to London, see Liz graduate and hang out with the rest of the Eastman's, and then do a bit of traveling in Europe. Then we'll head back to Seattle and down to Roseburg to visit my dad until we head home. I think I'll need a tranquilizer to make it on that many trips with a 1.5 year old...or at least one of us will! We can't wait to see everyone.

Ho Hum...

Reina has finally discovered her taste buds, as she came to her senses about broccoli. This is actually a bad thing, since we can't get her to eat hardly any veggies! Actually she is turning her head at all things that we ask her to try, even though she continues to tell us she is hungry (or signs "eat"). I find it a bit annoying. I thought I had it figured out today at lunch when I sat her in my lap and she spooned her own food in, but then at dinner she would not have anything to do with it. Its strange b/c she eats if she is not in her high chair...pancakes, oranges, raisins - oh raisins. They are her new favorite food. Anyhow.

Reina celebrated Easter this past Friday at daycare. I showed up to find that she was the winner. She some how won a huge easter basket. My first question was, how does a 1 year old win at something? Apparently she happened to find the egg with the right thing inside it!

House news: We met at the land and they had the whole

house mapped out to scale. Then we walked through wall by wall, ensuring that we were happy with where things would end up being and how big they were. Unfortunately the forecasts calls for rain from here on out, so they probably won't start the foundation any time soon.

I've mentioned before that Reina loves shoes. Well, here she is for the first time putting on Chris' shoes. She even walked around. Silly girl...
