Foresight?

No, I don't have a prediction for a due date (its more like a wish)...but I found a newborn pic of both Chris and I in the hospital...so perhaps our child will be similar to one of us or a combination of both. I think it is obvious who is who! They are scanned, so obviously not of the best quality.

39 weeks - Xmas

Doctor's Appt: Another dramatic appointment last Tuesday (12/23). Of course Lester messed up again. Long story short, we ended up seeing the annoying doctor again, who talks to Chris and I like we're four and tells us the same thing four times. Anyhow, all was normal. We won't be seen again until Jan. 6th...hopefully I'll deliver before then! AND I again assured that I was seen by someone (anyone) other than this doctor.

Xmas Eve: Check out the pictures. It was a gorgeous day, so Chris and I went off beach hunting. Found a totally secluded beach on the East side of the island (about 1 hour drive north - near Hansen). We stayed for an hour or so and just read, beach combed (found a bunch of great shells), and read. It was very relaxing.

We had Kuniko over this past weekend and she went to work sewing! We bought some material at the house of 66 and she made us a crib sheet. Its cute. Chris also bought a pattern and some material for her to make a "kariyushi" shirt, which is like the Okinawan version of an "aloha" shirt. See the pics. Chris is hoping she'll be able to finish it this weekend. It will be interesting to see how it turns out, and if its the right size! But we always joke that if its too big, we could always see if Mike or Paul could wear it!

L&D Tour - 38 weeks

This morning Chris and I toured the labor and delivery dept. at Lester Hospital. Fortunately, the hospital is like a 5 min drive from our house.  I wasn't too impressed with the facilities.  The delivery room was nice...pretty big, but there wasn't a private shower.  The post-partum rooms were really small and there were two beds in each, so that you might have to share.  We also found out how to register the babe and of course there is all sorts of other paperwork we are encouraged to fill out prior to delivery.  We'll get all of that at our next appointment this Tuesday. We're the first appointment of the day, so maybe we'll actually get seen on time. So far the Docs are notoriously 30min behind, but we are still made to come 15 min early for fear of losing our appointment on that 1 and a million chance they actually are running on schedule!

Chris and I had a busy last week.  I feel that I have fully informed my sub of everything and she is set for the first three weeks after break (hopefully!).  I will have to go in sometime and get those last 3 - 4 weeks planned later.  We went to Chris' faculty dinner and took some pics, so I'm hoping to get one of Chris and I to put up (assuming its decent).  I'll keep you all posted.  Cross your fingers for a Christmas baby.

37 weeks AND Casper Caught!

So, this is week 37. I often feel the baby move now, and when it does, due to cramped quarters, it feels quite funny. Its almost like its in slow motion and then it will stop in a position that is totally poking me...so I just push it back in! Definitely feeling heavy, awkward and uncomfortable. It definitely looks like I've gained some weight in the face (ugh) and I also think it looks like I have a growth in my stomach....guess that's the baby. I will be happy to get back to my old self - if that's even possible.

The baby is now considered full term - if it is born now it will most likely need no type of intervention and would not be considered pre-mature. Kind of scary that any day now I could go into labor! I am excited for the week to end and Christmas vacation to begin. However, with that I am swamped at work, trying to get everything ready for the 8 weeks I will be absent after break.

Chris and I will tour labor and delivery at Lester next Saturday, the 20th. Supposedly the L&D section was recently remodeled. We have our 38 week appointment with the Dr. on the 23rd, and will probably see her weekly after that.

Casper hasn't been caught in the crib too much - but when I got home from work the other day, he gave me quite a jump, lounging in the crib! Of course he moved before I could capture him - but I did get some evidence!

5 weeks and counting

So I'm right around the middle of my 35th week. Full term is between 37 - 40 weeks (baby isn't considered premature if its born during that week range). I saw "commander" Corey (finally figured out what CDR stood for - darn military and their acronyms!). Anyhow. CDR Corey was fabulous as always. My uterus is measuring at 34 weeks, and although I'm up to 164lbs (+34lbs from pre-pregnancy) she didn't seem worried. She thought I was probably retaining a little bit of water which is normal, espcially at this time in pregnancy. She also felt the position of the baby again (still head down) and said that she would estimate a current weight of about 5 1/4 lbs.

I'm feeling ok...kind of "done" being pregnant though. Bending over is killer - and what can be dropped will be - I'm always dropping everything! The baby gets hiccups all the time (at least twice a day) and its about as annoying as when I get the hiccups! We built the crib this past weekend too - and Casper has been caught in it twice! I have a feeling once the baby is here he won't want ANYTHING to do with it!

S0....31 days left (hopefully a few less!)
