Daddy Loves Blueberries

Can you even imagine what this title might mean?  Reina requested blueberries at the commissary today (its a rare find).  When Chris got home, I couldn't wait to share this new word she had learned, "Reina, can you say blue-berries for Daddy" Reina says, "boobies."  Oh man. It is hilarious to hear an innocent 2 year old say boobies.  Chris immediately changes the request to his own liking, hence the title.  Hopefully you can get there on your own, as I don't want to embarrass Chris too much.

Aside from fun, kid-words, Reina and I haven't really been up to anything in particular.  We did have a mini-fashion show after some of her hot-weather clothes came in (course its still freezing here).  We also saw Kaori, Skyla, Kazumi, and Joe on Wednesday again, and got a few cute pics from that.  This Wednesday, we'll see them again.  Then on Thursday, we've invited all of the Japanese girls over for easter egg-dying.  Chris and I aren't religious...but I thought it would still be fun to decorate eggs.  I'm not sure if I'm up for a hunt, but I did buy the girls some little chocolates, since that's what you do.

We had ONE warm day...gosh, was it last week, where Reina and I got out the tub and red bucket.  I suggested this to her, and she couldn't WAIT to get in.  Reina and I went outside, and I set up the water hose in the tub so that it could start filling up.  Then I walked towards the garden, to see how it was doing.  The next thing I know, Reina is stripping and getting right in the tub of water. Man she loves the water.

Mike changed his flight and is coming in this Friday.  It has been a bit of a challenge figuring out logistics on Friday, since Chris has a game at Kadena at 7, I have a NHS event at Killin from 4:30 - 7:30 and then Mike comes in around 9.  I think we've worked out that I'll have to take Reina to the Killin event, then we'll go home and Kuniko will watch Reina after she's in bed, while I go and get Mike.  It is going to be a busy day.  We are excited to see Mike, and then my Mom, the following week for Spring Break.  Man. Spring Break cannot come fast enough. March has been rough, as usual.  

Soccer's in Full Swing

We no longer see much of Chris.  I know he loves soccer, but Reina and I miss spending the afternoons with him.  I've been keeping us busy though.  Last week we made spent some time with Kaori and Skyla on Tuesday and then the neighbors on Friday.

On Wednesday, it was Chris' 29th birthday.  Unfortunately, he had to hold practice and then had the spring sports meeting at the DSO at 6pm.  So, after spending some time with Skyla and her friend Joe at our house, we had a quick bite to eat with the birthday boy at a central location. It was really cute talking to Reina about it being Daddy's birthday. At first she talked about presents, and then at dinner she brought up cake. So, I insisted on buying some dessert while at dinner to celebrate, for Reina's sake.

Somehow we squeezed dinner with Obaachan this weekend.

On Friday, we met Ako, Rana, and their mom Megumi at our house, and took our car to the comprehensive park. Ako and Rana are often discussed by Miss Reina, so when I told her we were going to the park with them, she thought that was pretty brilliant.  We had a good time, even though Reina still hasn't learned how to play WITH someone else.

This weekend Chris' team had a game Saturday and Sunday morning, so Reina and I got to go watch those.  Reina is napping now (yay) and later today we will enjoy the weather, as it is glorious.  For next week, we plan on seeing Jane, Sarah, and Maddie for a walk, and Kaori and Skyla (and probably Joe again) on Wednesday.  I find if I keep busy, Reina and I are happier.

I am not complaining. Reina sleeps through the night, and honestly, that is the best case scenario for me.  A well rested Mama, is a much happier Mama.  I do like a mid-day break.  These past two weekends Reina has been adamantly against napping. I'm not sure why.  She has been going to bed at the same time, and has actually been sleeping in past 7, which is very nice.  I have found with mama-hood that there is no use in trying to understand children's behavior.  Chris and I are consistent, happy, loving parents who spend every minute with Reina when we are not working.  Since I can ensure this, I know that she is not napping for some other reason that I will never know.  Today is the first day where it looks like she actually might NEVER make the nap.  Yesterday she had a great nap at 2....after trial one at the usual 12.  Today it is 2:30 and she is still whining about it upstairs...

Since we've had so much non-napping, we've been doing, well, the usual.  Friday night was a girls night out.  It was nice to be away, especially since Chris started soccer this week, and has been very pre-occupied with that.  I needed a bit of a break from Reina duty, and it turned out great.  On Saturday we watched Chris' practice. Reina really liked it; she didn't want to leave.  Today, we rode bikes and picnicked at Torii beach/park. It was supposed to be a very nice weekend weather-wise. But, it really hasn't been. Aside from it being a nice temperature, its been a bit overcast and windy. The rest of the week is planned, but I'm a bit down due to the weather.  I really just like my sunshine.
